Making a living in outdoor television and writing, I’m on constant lookout for quality hunting opportunities to share with the rest of the world. Wildside Hunting Safaris is one such place.
Gerald Fluerty and Bret Soverel have orchestrated their efforts and knowledge to provide truly world-class New Zealand red stag hunts. Superior genetics, prime habitat, scientific-based management and land that is made for the thrill of spot-and-stalk hunting make this one of those magical destinations every serious hunter must experience.
The hunting knowledge that Fluerty and his staff share, along with their deep passion for the hunt, made this one of my most enjoyable hunts ever. In addition to prized red stag, Wildside Hunting Safaris offers outstanding sika and fallow deer hunts, along with South Island options for mountain game.
This is a place that, if the quality game and breathtaking land don’t bring you back, the wonderful people will. I look forward to the day when I revisit Wildside Hunting Safaris, and get to experience more of the wonderful opportunities they provide to hunters.

“I dearly loved the way we hunted a combination of still hunting and spot and stalk. It was true hunting; in my opinion the perfect hunt!”
My trophy was quite a stag no matter how we looked at him and certainly my biggest after hunting red stag in Austria, Argentina, North America and previous hunts in New Zealand.
I love it, absolutely love it and I’m totally hooked on red stag, particularly those available with Wildside Hunting Safaris. For hunting monster red stags, sika stags as well as a variety of other New Zealand big game I highly recommend getting in touch with Gerald Fluerty with Wildside Hunting Safaris. I know you will be glad you did. I’ve already planned my next year’s trip with Gerald and the years thereafter. I look forward to seeing you there.

……….I guess my first reaction when I had a good look at the buck was that I was lost for words. It was everything I had been hoping for and more. The length was great with over 30 inch main beams, good spread, great palms and a magnificent cape. This was an absolutely fantastic conclusion to my Fallow hunt and yet another magnificent experience with Gerald. We have shared some great hunts together as well as great yarns and I have been lucky enough to take some truly fantastic trophies. We put the tape over the antlers to arrive at a Douglas Score of 249 6/8ths. That was the icing on the cake for me as that ranks right up there as a great scoring trophy in New Zealand.
Thanks again Gerald. Our walks on the Wildside have certainly delivered for me.
